Bethea (Annie) Kleykamp conducts literature reviews, interprets and synthesizes data, and applies her science writing skills to meet a variety of client needs (e.g., Rx-to-OTC switch, risk management, tobacco harm minimization). Annie has formal training in the areas of cognitive psychology, aging, and behavioral pharmacology. She also has extensive experience writing systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Her work has resulted in publications addressing a variety of drugs, including methadone, sleeping medication, alcohol, and nicotine/tobacco. Annie’s current research interests include the effects of drugs (prescription and recreational) on cognition and the health-related consequences of the aging adult population.
Annie completed two National Institutes of Health-supported Postdoctoral Fellowships at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit and at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Nicotine Psychopharmacology Section in 2011. Prior to joining PinneyAssociates in 2014, Annie worked at the health technology assessment company, Hayes, Inc., where she completed over 25 systematic reviews evaluating novel health technology. These reviews informed healthcare decision by stakeholders such as health insurance companies, health care providers, federal programs and state governments. Annie has also held teaching positions in English and Psychology departments at the University of Maryland College Park, Goucher College, and Community College of Baltimore County (Essex), and worked in the Writing Center of the United States Naval Academy.
