Karen Gerlach, Ph.D., MPH

Director, Population Health Surveillance

Karen Gerlach plans and implements risk management programs, and designs and executes surveillance efforts and product labeling assessments for our prescription and OTC clients. An expert in public health and health policy, Karen applies her training and practical experience in epidemiology to meet our clients challenges in postmarketing surveillance.

Karen’s research covers a wide array of topics including public health, health policy, and risk management. She has authored or co-authored multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals, presented at major national and international meetings, and served as a member of the editorial board of the American Journal of Health Promotion.

Before joining PinneyAssociates in 2007, Karen was a Senior Program Officer and Team Leader at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey and an Epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. Karen earned her doctorate in microbiology and immunology at Indiana University School of Medicine and her master’s of public health in epidemiology and health policy at The Johns Hopkins University.
